Employee Pay and Benefits

If you are an employee of the City of North Richland Hills, I'm glad you are here.  This page is for you.  I've been told there is a rumor floating around the city that suggests I and the other challengers in the City Council race this year want to cut your pay and benefits, if we get elected.  If you have heard any such thing, let me put your mind at ease right now.  The rumor is false.  Check your source and ask for evidence substantiating such charges.

If elected, I have absolutely no intention of cutting your pay, benefits or the number of people in the workforce.  While I cannot speak for the other challengers, I believe you will find they are likeminded in this regard.  I encourage you to ask them if you have questions.  They are available to you just as I am.

I expect that you are aware of my desire to control city spending and even to reduce it, when possible.  However, please note that this does not correlate to a workforce reduction, pay cut or a reduction in benefits.  On the contrary, I expect that, given the opportunity to clean house on the budget and the frivolous spending of the existing city leadership, we would have more room to talk about increases to pay and benefits for city employees.  This is by no means a promise to boost either one from current levels as soon as I am elected, if that becomes a reality.  I don't make cheap or empty promises.  Having said that, it seems logical to me that the less money we waste, the more we have for important things like taking care of our city employees.

My desire and commitment is to treat you and every other citizen of this city, to the best of my ability, as I would want/expect to be treated.  You are invited to hold me accountable for this commitment.

Has your current leadership given you any such commitment?  If so, are they fulfilling it?
